As a beginner photographer, I've realized I enjoy capturing people in ways they aren’t used to. When I’m taking a photo I try to aim for deep lighting that shows the best angles and emotion of the subject I’m photographing. I like to change the photograph’s story by one attribute. It might be the angle, the lighting, or the backdrop of the image. A lot of these characteristics combine to make a photograph a complete unit. I draw my inspiration from the photographer Dawoud Bey. I adore the way he photographs people; Bey has a remarkable way of expressing a narrative with his photographs. Through my photographic journey, I strive to build powerful emotions and potentially a story in my photos while the individuals I’m capturing strike their best pose.
