Sarawar Zahan
My journey into photography began with a deep desire to capture the captivating essence of the world around me, from the beauty of people and life to cars, buildings, and city landscapes—freezing moments that spark wonder, moments that can’t be recreated, that happen only once. I love exploring different subjects, from landscapes to portraits, playing with light, shadows, and time.
Though I appreciate black-and-white photography and the unique experience it lends to photographs, I’m more drawn to color for its ability to bring my photographs to life with vibrancy and depth, reflecting the rich hues of the world as we see it. I’m influenced by artists like Semyon Rezchikov, whose candid street portraits capture raw authenticity; and Pia Riverola, who is known for her masterful use of color and cinematic allure. I aim to imbue my photographs with similar qualities. Rezchikov’s ability to capture unguarded moments and Riverola’s talent for using color as a narrative tool inspire me to push the boundaries of my photography.
Additionally, Kehinde Wiley’s innovative approach to art, which blurs the boundaries between reality and perception, inspires me to explore the transformative potential in my photography practice further and to push the limits of my visual storytelling.
