In my work, I try to create alternative perspectives on everyday objects by capturing them from different angles and lighting to show their unique textures. I have taken inspiration from artists such as Lorna Simpson, Carrie Mae Weems, and LaToya Ruby Frazier. Similar to their work, I try to document the nature of the people and objects, with the idea that there is beauty in the most common things around us, as well as the things that we tend to overlook. I create my artwork as a way to escape reality, as I feel myself hyper-focusing on the subjects I capture.
