I’ve created, and continue to create, art for the people before me who couldn’t; the people who looked like me and couldn't express themselves simply because they looked like me. Recently I've been trying to explore new methods of taking pictures, and my photos have started to reflect the dark sides of my brain that I try not to pay attention to. They hold sadness, anger, and isolation. I want people to feel something when looking at my photography, whether that's discomfort, vulnerability, or serenity. I’m inspired by artists such as Renell Medrano, Kendrick Lamar, and Micaiah Carter, who create narratives that are meaningful and self-evident. I chose these pieces and decided to build on these ideas because I felt so transparent while taking them. Emotion plays a huge role in my life, in all our lives, and that’s how we stay connected.Silhouette, 2020Separation, 2020
