ARTIST STATEMENT

My photography captures a sense of beauty in the city. My photos consist of things that I think people often might walk past and not notice. For me, being a New Yorker is seeing the beauty in all things. Harlem is the heart of the city. Harlem consists of so many beautiful people from different walks of life. New York is known as a melting pot, with many different cultures
living together, which inspires me.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Nyasia Massey was born and raised in Washington Heights. Her mom is from Chicago, and her dad is from Harlem. Growing up, she got to experience many parts of Harlem, and she wants to incorporate those experiences in her photos. She likes to take pictures of different cultures around New York City. She takes landscape photography and portraits. She also likes to play golf and cook.
