I admire color photography because I love how color can portray the world as so much livelier than it seems in reality; color photography has a childlike quality at times with the way it mimics the wonder that we feel when we’re young and everything is still a new experience. My love for color also comes from my general love for art, which I inherited from my grandma. Seeing her art at such an early age has heavily influenced the way I view the world, and she is the main reason I love to experiment and always prioritize fun in all the art I make.

To try to get the same effect in my art, I bump my saturation all the way up and pay extra attention to the shapes that are present, the way things are framed, and my use of empty space. I do all of this to allow people to see the world through my eyes and how I always try to see the beauty in it. Every moment I capture means something to me, and I want others to look at my photographs and feel something familiar yet unique to themself. I’m especially inspired by photographers like Will Matsuda and Rinko Kawauchi because when I look at their work I get this sense of awe. Their work is what I aspire to reach in skill and creativity. I adore their use of color and techniques and how they induce certain feelings, much like I aspire to do.

Minna Guerrero always has a passion for art and photography as a way for her to express herself. Having grown up in the Bronx, she’s always been surrounded by art, whether it be murals or graffiti—it's something that she can’t escape. Once she decided to go to Manhattan Hunter Science High School, her world became so much larger. She’s constantly surrounded by and learning from so many different people. Ultimately, this led her to pursue art full-time in her senior year of high school. Minna’s love for video games and other media is what motivates her; however, it was the encouragement and inspiration she received from others that finally pushed her to pursue her dream of being a professional artist.
