Maya Williams

Age: 16 St. Jean Baptiste High School Ever since I started taking photos I have used my work as an extension of myself. I like to use photos as keepsakes, and through depth of tone, and red and yellow hues, my work portrays an array of emotions. I have always loved photography, whether it was taking shots of family and friends, or random pictures that made me happy. I like Surrealist photography and dark pictures. An artist whose practice comes to mind and I admire is Billy Dinh. His dark street images and train photos inspire me. His work makes me think about the way I could improve and the techniques I could include. Off-guard and accidental photos are some of my favorite ways to take photographs because they come out with stories and I find that really beautiful.
