LALAH HARPER
ARTIST STATEMENT
I make photographs to convey my feelings, inviting
audiences to connect with me. I usually take my
photographs while I’m outside, either walking home
from school, in parks, or with friends. I take inspiration mainly from two photographers. First, Sohrab Hura for his sensitivity to light, which creates an enchanting vibe. Second, Farah Al-Qasimi, who utilizes vivid color to bring a soothing yet cheerful feel to her pictures. I also find inspiration for my photographs from films, such as Labyrinth (1986) and Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009).
