ARTIST STATEMENT
My photography mainly consists of black-and-white photos. I also shoot pictures with a low ISO setting on my digital camera to create hazy images. My images reveal the beauty of dim lighting and details that others might miss. I photograph nature, flowers, friends, and family. I make photos from everyday life based on how I see the world around me. I photograph life in Harle and show life’s imperfections. Gia Han’s photography inspires me because her work has mystery; it is full of hidden meanings while also displaying her personal and cultural identities.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Keyaris Canty is a high school senior at Opportunity Charter School. She lives in Harlem. She photographs nature, friends, and family. She likes to take pictures of people who have shaped her identity. She also likes to draw.
