ARTIST STATEMENT

In my photography, I showcase my family and the cultures of different neighborhoods in New York. I make digital photography. What is special, to me, is that pictures can have different significances to others. I show what I value and find interesting; I try to find things that others might not take notice of. I tend to work in color photography, allowing the
colors to emphasize my ideas. I am influenced by  photographers Janice Chung and Ming Smith.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Janelly Rosendo is a senior at Millennium High School. She lives in Washington Heights. Her photographs show architecture in the city and her family. She also likes to photograph everyday activities she does outside of school, such as going shopping, going to the park, and trying pastries.
