Age: 17 Community Health Academy High SchoolIn my time on Earth, I've walked hundreds of miles to many destinations, yet not once have I noticed the abundance of beautiful colors of life. The survival aspect of life blinded me. Through photography, I made it my mission to photograph beautiful scenery that people seem to not notice or simply walk past. With the way my work accentuates color, I hope to shed light on the feelings that colors put forth, such as warmth, coziness, love, and déjà vu. I use photography to escape into my own playground, highlight the colors of life, and bring light to unrecognized beauty you may not notice on a daily basis while walking the streets of New York City. Photographers such as Jamel Shabazz, Isaac Diggs, and my good friend/brother Keith Tucker have inspired me to use composition, frame rate, and ISO to accentuate those colors. My photography documents everyday life and infrastructure. I allow to people to pose for their legacies, and my photographs look within to the beauty of people. I want to provide an experience that allows people to have that appreciation for the place that we call home—to take the time to observe and admire the elements that evoke the feelings of relaxation or being “at home.” These ideas captivate me and motivate me to capture the shades and colors of life.
