Age: 16 St. Jean Baptiste High SchoolMy pictures range in compositions, each component balancing the other like a well-rounded meal. Initially, I experimented with shooting still lifes, though I wanted to focus more on the intention in my process. As I continue to learn and expand my skills, I’m experimenting with different angles, lighting, poses, and props, resulting in stories captured and transmitted through my lens. I am inspired by Ren Heng because he has nothing to hide in his pictures and breaks social norms. I crave to be as free from deceit as he is through his work. I am also inspired by Peter DeVito. He aims to challenge society’s beauty standards and wants people to feel seen through his Acne Normalization series (2017). I like to branch out and capture different styles of photography and capture the motivated look on people's faces during track races when they hear someone catching up to them. I feel very connected to running. It is a reminder to continue running toward the goal—a symbol of ambition and determination to confront things head on. These values are reflected in my work and add to each photo's purpose. Art is subjective because it is an expression of personal perspective. That is why I leave my art up to the viewer's interpretation. I want my viewers to feel something.
