CHRISTOPHER SORIANO
ARTIST STATEMENT
I’m excited that other people have a chance to observe what I make as an artist. I use digital photography to capture my feelings. I take pictures of many different people in my life. Taking photos of others is a way for me to show them how important they are to me. I like to photograph loved ones having fun. I take most of my pictures in Washington Heights because it is my home neighborhood, and there is a lot of culture and diversity there. The photographers who inspire me are James Van Der Zee and LaToya Ruby Frazier because they focus on Black culture and family.
