Ashly Garcia
As a beginner photographer, I always struggled with my pictures and was hard on myself—I constantly compared myself to other artists. I asked myself if I would ever be good enough to be a professional photographer or if people would ever understand my message while looking at my images. I am slowly understanding that not everyone has the same views as me, so I began to focus on my strongest area, portraits, and began by capturing my friends in random settings and lighting just to see what would come out, and sometimes used an effect, such as motion blur. I soon realized that I also needed to get comfortable in front of the camera, so I began taking portraits of myself, figuring out my angles and setting and lighting that would suit me best.
