ARTIST STATEMENTh

I like to take photos with a monochrome filter because using black-and-white helps me capture strong emotions. I find joy in taking photographs of nature, family, and daily events. I became interested in photography when I started taking pictures on my first iPhone in elementary school. I like being able to capture certain important memories or moments. I have since used the skills I learned to express my creativity and experiment with other forms of visual art.



ABOUT THE ARTIST

Angel Torres is a sophomore at Urban Assembly Media High School and lives in the Bronx. He takes photographs of nature, daily life, and family. Some of his favorite pastimes include learning new things, making art, and socializing with his friends and family. One of his favorite artists is Keith Haring. He likes seeing art by people from different time periods and how every artist’s style is unique. Art inspires Angel to continue what he likes the most: creating, always trying new things in the field of art, and living to the fullest.
